HF Case Standalone

The HFCase Standalone is an application developed to allow doing the same as the HFCase e-tool but without requiring an internet connection. With the HFCase Standalone, users can save projects locally and decide whenever they want a synchronization and centralization with the HFCase e-tool.

Project Scope:

The HFCase Standalone projects included:

  • Export of an existing project from the e-tool
  • The standalone application itself
  • Import of a new project to the e-tool

Technologies

  • .net Technology
  • Microsoft Access Database

Main Principles

Some important principles has been set as the basis of a Standalone version:
  • The default lists (also called “metadata” or “reference data” or “Referentials ”) should be available in the standalone. It should be possible to add new items to these lists, with same behavior as in the e-tool.
  • About the look & feel similarity: all functions need to be presented the same way in the Standalone version as in the e-tool; thus, the screens of the functions to be done should be similar for the information to be shown, the positioning in the screen, and the general behavior of the screen, but the font and colors, for example, and other “cosmetic” aspects do not need to be exactly the same.
  • We would include only one project per exchange file. This will be more user-friendly in the sense that these files might be considered as any Office file. Users can open, close and save a project by just opening, closing and saving a file. This will also allow users to share projects by exchanging files on a one-to-one basis.
  • The Referentials would better be included in the same exchange file as the project itself. This will allow users to easily exchange projects even if their Referentials are not synchronized with the same version from the e-tool.
  • There should be a possibility on the e-tool site:
    • to download the standalone application
    • to export a selected project in the defined exchange format (which may be an empty project to start working on a new project)
  • Synchronizing Referentials with the e-tool is not foreseen after the creation of a project. A workaround will be to import the concerned project into the e-tool and to re-export it with the Referentials updated from the e-tool.

The selection of a project is made simply by opening the project file. The first screen to be displayed is then the Project Definition screen.

The way to associate Issues and Workareas to the project is slightly different from the HFCase e-tool.

The .Net platform includes libraries to easily develop all kind of dynamic and beautiful graphs.
