Project Scope

This application is linked with the FUA Project.

The Flexible Use of Airspace Concept (FUA) reunifies the "civil" and "military" airspace as one continuum for airspace management, within which the time slots allocation is done according to civil or military requirements.

This new concept provides the Air Traffic Management (ATM) system with the potential to increase capacity, by allowing the maximum sharing of airspace usage, through enhanced civil/military co-ordination.

In other words, the application of the FUA Concept ensures that any airspace segregation is temporary, and based on real use for a specified time period.

Military authorities have felt the need for indicators that can articulate whether the amount of airspace temporarily allocated for military purposes is adequate. This ensured a common methodology to measure usage of airspace structures for military activities, thru 8 key performance indicators (KPI).

Specific Tasks

Pulsar developed a complete Flash movie, explaining by 3D animations each Military Key Performance Indicators of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA).

This includes specific geometrical objects representing practical cases of Airspace usage, coloured representation of the mathematical formula to allow highlighting each term against the graphical objects, and a practical example by KPI with real data, based on the coloured formula.
