E-Learning/Web-Based Training

The term eLearning is used most often when dealing with web-based distance education, with no face-to-face interaction. Sometimes it also refers distance learning, distributed learning, or electronic learning.

Different terms are used when talking about eLearning, here are some of them:
  • eLearning : electronic Learning system
  • CBT : Computer-based Training
  • WBT : Web-based training
  • LMS : Learning Management System
Pulsar Consulting can help you in developing your e-Learning project either on a time-based basis or following a fixed price arrangement (tasking contract). We can develop SCORM compliant eLearning packages for COTS platforms (ex.: Topclass LMS System, CLIX, etc) or for non-COTS or open-source standards (Claroline, Dokeos), with HTML, Flash, Javascript and Flash scripting as principal rendering technologies for the graphical interface.

We have a skilled team dedicated to realization of web-based trainings, mainly in the ATM Domain. It is composed of internal and external staff, combining skills in the following domains:
  • Training experts
  • eLearning experts
  • Architecture/Software/Infrastructure experts
Pulsar works in accordance with a proven e-Learning / WBT development methodology in order to deliver high quality, modular and efficient State of the Art WBT Modules, able to achieve the defined learning objectives and knowledge acquisition targets.

Our WBT Platform

The Pulsar eLearning Management System (PLMS), or "WBT Platform" for short, is a content management system dedicated to facilitate the production and the hosting of e-learning content. This platform has a smooth and professional look and feel, a high level of compliancy (browsers, graphics formats, SCORM packages etc.) and also provides to the WBT designer plenty of useful features like a navigation bar, an automatic glossary, several reusable quizzes, an embedded video player and many other functionalities.

During several years, we have enhanced a generic reusable LMS Graphical User Interface for the WBT’s, following the needs and requirements. This interface is made up of several components, which are the skeleton of the screen. All components are then filled with the information, animations, diagrams or exercises needed to achieve the learning objectives.

Pulsar developed E-Learning modules according to existent requirements and guidelines of Eurocontrol/IANS, but adding new features and functionalities. We’ve developed a generic, reusable Graphical User Interface for our LMS (Learning Management System), also called Pulsar LMS (PLMS), or Web-based Training (WBT). This interface is made up of several components, which are grouped around the skeleton of the screen.

We also developed several WBT generic functions, which are reused from project to project and allow improved interactivity and give attractiveness to the WBT interface. Amongst other, we have:
  • Enhanced 3D graphic objects: World Sphere, 3D Airports, etc.
  • Generic Quizzes (6 quiz types) with XML-Based parameters (for colours, texts, false or true answers management, feedback on answers, etc.)
  • Flash animations and illustrations
  • Glossary tool, including contextual Glossary and full Glossary access page
  • Related Links page
  • Table of Content

  • Print current page, print module, print all
