The iSPS tool is a web-based application that allows managing the collaboration between a main entity and its customers. This collaboration is done on different topics (themes in the application).

The system is able to maintain the status (including the duly signed license) of each customer's organization's subscription to one or more theme.

Each theme can involve one or more service. These services can be from different kinds (file sharing, event registration, forum, bug tracking, etc.). Some services are directly included in iSPS while others are external (synchronization process from iSPS to the external service is available).

The iSPS tool has been originally developed for the SASS-C group at Eurocontrol in charge of assessing the Surveillance Infrastructure Performance. A separate instance, with a distinct look&feel, was installed in the ARTAS division in charge of distributing ATM surveillance information. A third instance was installed for the SDDS (Surveillance Data Distribution System) Project.

Administrative Features

These parts of the application are exclusively reserved to the administrator. They allow him to manage a series of concepts like Users, Organisations, Themes, Services, Events and various system parameters.

The Administrator will in particular assign specific access rights by associating Organisations and Themes. This association may be limited to the validity period of a license when the theme corresponds to the use of a licensed tool.

File Sharing features

iSPS distinguishes different areas and types of file transfers:

  • The HTTP Download area allows file transfers from iSPS to Customer
  • The HTTP Upload area allows file transfers from Customer to iSPS
  • A direct HTTP Upload may be used up to a size of 100 MD
  • For bugger files, up to 2 GB, indirect upload will be go via FTP
  • Depending on the access rights, it is possible to change the tree structure where files are stored, to rename or delete files or even to move them within the tree structure.

Event registration features

All events are recorded with each attendee participation status. In case of embedded events, attendees can provide different participation statuses per sub-event.

When creating an event based on themes, the Administrator may ask the attendee for information prior to validating its participation, and the system will determine who should be invited.

In case of restricted events, the attendee can only request for a participation and the administrator will have to confirm/accept it.

Notification features

iSPS provides a powerful notification system, automatically sending emails to the appropriate email addresses when some actions are performed. The content of these mails is defined via templates.

The administrator may also compose a mail at many points in the application and the system will determine the list of addresses from the context, e.g.: the mail will be sent to users who are entitled to participate to and event, or to the users who are members of the selected organisations, or to the users who have the right access to the selected themes.

User Management

The list of users shows the records matching the LDAP filter and containing the searched string in the user id, first name, last name, email, or organisation name (case insensitive).

Checking the email of the selected users will send them an email asking them to follow a hyperlink to confirm their account validity.

The Administrator may enable (+) or disable (-) the users’ access rights.

The Administrator may overwrite or reset the information coming from LDAP, as well as changing the user’s status, organisation and responsibilities.
